Catholic Education Week runs from May 3rd to May 8th, and we are celebrating with a week full of activities! On Monday our ECHO (Everyday Christians Helping Others) faith youth group led by Ms. Beltran will start off the week by performing a flash mob during high school and 7/8 lunches in the cafeteria. The song is a Christian song that portrays the joy that we have as followers of Christ. Here is the song.

All Catholic schools in Ontario are celebrating Catholic education with a mass.  Ours will be held on Tuesday, May 5 at 8:30 am in the chapel.  All are welcome.  The Board-wide Celebration of the Eucharist will be held Tuesday, May 5th beginning at 7:30pm at the Notre Dame Cathedral. The Director of Education Awards will be presented to staff recipients following this mass  There will also be a “Leave the Phone” assembly for our grade 10-12 students, presented by the Safer Roads Ottawa program, Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, May 6, please join us for our OPEN HOUSE, from 7:45-8:45am.  Staff will be greeting parents that morning with coffee and timbits. In the atrium, displays, presentations and performances by Mrs. Maclean’s Jazz Band await you.  You will see the culmination of our annual Canley Cup Food Drive, with a castle of boxes filled with food donations.  Our students will walk with their cans to the Gloucester-Cumberland Resource Centre on Centrum Blvd from 10:30-12:15, returning for a BBQ and Carnival.  We remind students to dress appropriately for the activity and the weather.  If the students achieve their goal of collecting 35,000 cans, they will be able to attend a talent show featuring staff and students.  We round out the evening with staff members volunteering at the McDonald’s on Innes Road and Tenth Line, from 4-6pm, for McHappy Day.
