Christmas Hamper Charity Drive

It’s time once again for our annual Christmas Hamper charity drive that will be delivered to local families in need. We begin our campaign on Monday, December 1st and end it on Friday morning, December 12th.

As Pope Francis has reminded us, we are constantly called to maintain, safeguard, and uphold the dignity of the poor. Many of the families our gifts go to have various cultural rules surrounding food, their children have specific likes and dislikes that only the parents know about, and there is a simple dignity in parents shopping on their own for the gifts that will end up in their children’s hands. Therefore, once again in that spirit, our Christmas Hamper drive will be strictly limited to gift cards and cash. The gift cards can come from grocery stores, toy stores, shopping centers, etc. Any cash donated will be used to purchase additional gift cards by the St. Peter Pastoral Team. Last year we did this and were overwhelmed with the generous response from our community. In fact, last year was one of the most generous collections we have ever had. In addition, this year we will be collecting Canadian Tire Money. This will be used to purchase sleeping bags for the Shepherds of Good Hope.

Thanks again for all you do. Our work truly makes a difference in the lives of so many in the Ottawa area and for families in need right in our own school. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. - Dr. Joe Rogers, chaplain
